The Calling

Hey!,

Thanks for stopping by my blogger and taking a look around! My name is Dave Hafner and I grew up around La Crosse, WI. I am currently on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) doing campus field ministry. There plenty of things I could tell you about myself, but the most important thing I can share with you is about how the LORD of the universe intersected my life!

Several years back, as a sophomore in college,  I was searching for purpose in life -- belonging, hope, truth. As I was in the process of building new friendships I was introduced to several men and women who displayed love for people in their lives in a way I had never seen before. As I began to build my friendships with these individuals I was eventually invited to a Cru meeting. I attended and to my surprise there were around 250 other students there, some of them even people I knew! I began attending weekly and got involved in a Bible Study in my dorm as well. After a month of attending, in Oct 2004, the LORD got a hold of me through a talk given by the Cru campus director. He spoke of the love of God for us, how sin has separated us from God and the love He desires to share with us, how Jesus Christ came and lived a perfect life and give Himself up for death to pay the penalty of those sins that separated us from God, and finally, that by faith we can accept Jesus Christ into our lives and acknowledge our need for His grace to cover our sins and to live for Him, again experiencing that love that God originally intended for us. So Great! Since then, I have become so aware of what I would call the spiritual atmosphere of college campuses and have been given a deep-seeded desire to share Jesus with college students as he was shared with me. That they might be able to then go wherever the Lord is leading them into the world, to share Jesus with others. This is all to the glory of God for the purpose of fulfilling the great commission.
"Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20
